March 1, 2013

The International Sports Summit in Istanbul highlighted the positive socio-economic contributions an Olympic Games would provide for the city.

The Summit introduced Istanbul’s 2020 candidacy and spoke about the new infrastructure and transport systems that have been built to enhance their bid.

Suat Kilic, capsule Turkish Minister of Youth and Sports said he believed Istanbul deserved to host the 2020 Games “because it has been on this process for a long time. We had bid for four times and now on the fifth.”

The International Summit is the first of its kind and will become an annual event in the near future, said an official statement.
