August 15, 2013

Infostrada Sports has been selected to produce the TriFinance EuroHockey Championships on behalf of the event’s local organising committee.

The Championships will take place at Braxgata H.C. in Boom, Belgium from 17-25 August and will be the biggest hockey event ever held in the nation. It features the top eight European men’s and women’s national teams, who will compete in 40 matches over nine days to win the European title.

Infostrada will be responsible for the broadcast production and Mediapro will provide all technical support. Mediapro will also handle the coordination and distribution of the delivery of the games’ signals around the world.

Infostrada Sports, Mediapro and Sports Exposure are also the joint rights holders of the event. Mediapro, with Muy Manero, oversees the media rights’ global sales. Sports Exposure handles deliver and advertising sales on the European market on all LED boarding and video walls.

Danny Menken, CEO Infostrada Sports said: “We are delighted that the event’s local organising committee has chosen Infostrada Sports as their production partner. Infostrada Sports is highly experienced in the area of field hockey productions.  As one of the shareholders of the Euro Hockey League (EHL) we are responsible for the innovative video production of this biggest European club competition. I am convinced that together with our partners Mediapro and Sports Exposure we will successfully complete this project. It will be a true television spectacle.”

Marijke Fleuren, President of the European Hockey Federation, added: “As the final hours approach until the first whistle being blown at the TriFinance EuroHockey Championships, at Braxgata HC, the EHF feels very reassured that Infostrada Sports are at the TV ‘helm’. There is no doubt that with their EHL experience and a very professional crew they will produce excellent TV pictures for viewers worldwide. In addition, the players can rest assured that the TV director will get the best possible angles for the Video Umpire in the OB truck to ensure that any referrals are dealt with in a prompt and fair way. With such a confidence in our team of umpires and in the TV crew, we are, for the first time ever in hockey, using open microphones in the stadium during video referrals. This will mean that spectators will be able to listen to the question being asked to the VM and to his or her answer! Another innovation is, that through Sports Exposure, we are using pitch side LED Boarding, yet another first for hockey. We know that the quality of our athletes and their efforts on the field is deserving of the ‘look and feel’ of the most popular professional worldwide sports. These are indeed exciting times for all of us in the European Hockey Federation.”
