February 7, 2013
The Jordan Football Association have acquired IMG Media to market the international broadcast rights of the national team’s matches until the 2015 AFC Asian Cup.
IMG Media, a division of IMG Worldwide are a global sports, fashion and media company and will now distribute the rights to Jordan’s qualification matches against Syria and Oman. The company will do the same for international friendlies.
Michael Mellor, Senior Vice President at IMG Media, said: “This is the first time the Jordan FA has had an international rights partner and we are delighted they chose us. We are developing their friendly calendar and plan to help them to develop and commercialise their football operation over the next couple of years, although we, of course, hope it is the beginning of a long-term relationship.”
Jordan’s Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein, a Vice President of FIFA, soccer’s international governing body, described the tie-up as “an historic agreement.”
The finals of the AFC Asian Cup take place in Australia in January 2015.
