Hong Kong and NSW Rugby Union Sign Schoolboys Rugby Agreement

July 24, 2013

The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) Sydney will sponsor the New South Wales (NSW) Schoolboys Sevens tournament after an agreement was struck with the organisers.

Organised by the New South Wales Rugby Union Development Team (NSWRU), prescription the deal means they will partner with HKETO for the Hong Kong NSW Schoolboys Sevens 2013 Championship on September, 8.

This marks the first time the NSWRU has worked with another organisation to encourage the growth of schoolboy rugby sevens in NSW.

Director of HKETO, Steve Barclay said: “Raising awareness of Hong Kong amongst young Australians is important to ensure the continued relevance of Hong Kong in business, academic, sports, culture and tourism arenas in future years.

“Given the importance of sports in Australia and Hong Kong’s own world-famous Rugby Sevens tournament, our sponsorship of NSW Schoolboys Sevens is a natural fit.”

Key sponsors of the championship include Hong Kong Tourism Board, Cathay Pacific and HSBC.
