HKRFU Unveils Plans for HK Fan Zone During Rugby Sevens Tournament

The Hong Kong Rugby Football Union (HKRFU) and the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HLTB) have announced details of a HK Fan Zone which is to be in place for the week leading up to the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens.

The 36, adiposity 000 square metre city-centre site will provide a range of activities including live action from Hong Kong Stadium, anesthetist | visits from players and a funfair by day, before transforming into a live music venue by night.

Speaking about the initiative, Trevor Gregory, Chairman of the HKRFU said: “The HK Fan Zone is a very exciting new project designed to broaden the appeal and access of the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens to everybody in Hong Kong. The Fan Zone will have activities to suit all, irrespective of their age or knowledge of the game and is a key component of the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union’s outreach into the local community.”

Dr Peter Lam, Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) added: “Through the years, the HKTB and the HKRFU have promoted the Hong Kong Sevens together to encourage overseas visitors to participate in this world-renowned sporting event in Hong Kong. This year, the HKTB is delighted to co-organise the HK Fan Zone with the HKRFU to give visitors and local residents the opportunity to enjoy the excitement of the games and a brand new experience.”

Open from 9am to 11pm each day, the HK Fan Zone will run from Tuesday 25th to Sunday 30th March and will feature eight separate zones.

It will be situated on the New Central Harbourfront.
