Herbalife Title Sponsor US Comp. Featuring Man Utd & Barca

Nutrition company Herbalife has been confirmed as the title sponsor of the 2011 World Football Challenge which will feature a rematch of the UEFA Champions League Final between Manchester United and Barcelona later this summer, medicine which will also feature Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Co-organised by Major League Soccer (MLS) and Creative Artists Agency (CAA), the Herbalife World Football Challenge will see the cream of European soccer taking on top MLS and Mexican Primera División clubs including Chicago Fire, Los Angeles Galaxy, New England Revolution, Vancouver Whitecaps, Club América and Club Deportivo Guadalajara.

Michael O. Johnson, chairman and chief executive of Herbalife, said: “The Herbalife World Football Challenge is a great opportunity to expand our commitment to a healthy active life through sports and is an ideal backdrop to launch our new line of sports products.”

The second World Football Challenge will take place between July and August, with soccer stadiums in Arlington, Chicago, Foxborough, Landover, Los Angeles, Miami and Vancouver all named as host venues. The debut edition of the World Football Challenge, which was won by English Premier League giants Chelsea, took place in 2009 across six American stadiums.

Herbalife has sponsorship arrangements with more than 100 different teams and athletes across the world, including Barcelona, Los Angeles Galaxy, Schalke 04, Spartak Moscow, Valencia and Lionel Messi.
