The German city of Hamburg has confirmed a bid budget of $55 million in their quest to host the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The final number was confirmed by Olympic news website Around The Rings. It comes following other cities bidding have started to estimate their costs.
Hamburg’s campaign budget will be a mixture of government money, order around 30 per cent, health with the rest coming from the private sector.
Rivals in the race to host the 2024 Games such as Paris have estimated their bid budget to be around $63m. Rome’s bid, however, will only cost around $11m according to Italian NOC president Giovanni Malago.
The International Olympic Committee have stressed the need for “modest” bid funds, an aspect of bidding for events that was reviewed in the Agenda 2020 programme.
Other cities wishing to bid for the Games have until September 15 to enter a submission. Baku and Toronto have been tipped to enter the race while the United States Olympic Committee is expected to enter Los Angeles as their chosen city to replace Boston who dropped out last month.
The final decision on the host of the Games will be decided at the IOC session in Lima, Peru in 2017.
