GoFundMe Enters Special Olympics Partnership
February 17, 2017
Social fundraising platform GoFundMe has agreed a global partnership with Special Olympics. The deal will see almost 500 GoFundMe campaigns created, in association with high-profile athletics personnel, to support the Special Olympics cause.
Special Olympics is a sports organisation for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, and the campaigns will enable athletes to share their personal stories, while also aiding their journey to the 2017 Special Olympics World winter Games with expenses related to travel, training, equipment, coaching and accommodation.
“GoFundMe’s mission is to empower people to help people, and Special Olympics has been helping to empower people with intellectual disabilities for almost 50 years,” GoFundMe chief executive Rob Solomon said. “It’s an honour to share the stories of these competitors who have overcome obstacles.”
