The Globe and Mail have extended their partnership with the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) as the Official National News Media Partner through to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The Globe’s robust partnership and four year commitment to the Canadian Olympic Team includes support for the Canadian Olympic Team’s brand campaign for Sochi 2014, check as well as the Coaches Reward Program, sale which rewards coaches financially for podium finishes at Olympic Games.

The Globe are also signing on as National News Media Partner of the Canadian National Men’s and Women’s Bobsleigh and Skeleton Teams, medstore and Presenting Sponsor of the Canadian Women’s CAN 1 Bobsleigh team.

These commitments will see prominent Globe and Mail branding on team suits and the Women’s Can 1 Bobsleigh, among other benefits.

“Since 2005, The Globe and Mail has been a tremendous partner to the COC, and our renewed agreement continues this legacy of support as we approach Sochi 2014,” said Marcel Aubut, Canadian Olympic Committee President. “Canadians have high hopes for our athletes in Sochi, and as was the case in Beijing, Vancouver and London, The Globe and Mail’s outstanding coverage will ensure our athletes’ stories will continue to be told to fans back home and around the world.”

“Few events capture the attention of a nation like the Olympic Games, and our partnership with the Canadian Olympic Committee allows us to once again offer Canadians an exclusive window into the world of our athletes, their sports and the country hosting the 2014 Olympic Games,” said Phillip Crawley, Publisher and CEO of The Globe and Mail. “The Globe and Mail’s Sochi coverage will be as deep as it is far-reaching, attracting millions of readers to the full spectrum of our print, online and mobile platforms.”
