Glasgow 2014 Secure Historic Partnership with UNICEF

Organisers of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games have secured a partnership with children’s charity UNICEF, drug who become the first global charity partner of the games.

A film will be created featuring Scottish Olympic champion cyclist Sir Chris Hoy and celebrity singer Nicole Sherzinger as a part of the deal.

Shown during the Opening Ceremony, ed the short-film will invite viewers to make a donation to the charity.

Glasgow 2014 chief executive David Grevemberg said: “This is a ground-breaking and profoundly important opportunity for the people of the Commonwealth to come together to put their children first and improve lives.

“Glasgow 2014 has had so many firsts in terms of Games and again we are making history, we are changing the conversation.

“We are taking an opening ceremony and elevating it into something which will not just be experienced by people but will leave a lasting legacy for the young people of Scotland and across the Commonwealth.”

Ex-Manchester United Boss Sir Alex Ferguson and cricket star Sachin Tendulkar will also feature in the film.

Glasgow 2014 starts on July 23 and runs through to 3 August.
