Generations For Peace Launches in the USA

HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein and HRH Princess Sarah Al-Feisal join high-level dignitaries for official launch at the Library of Congress, Washington DC

The Founders of Generations For Peace, HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein and HRH Princess Sarah Al-Feisal, together with H.E. Dr. Alia Hatoug Bouran, Ambassador of Jordan to the United States, last night officially launched Generations For Peace in the USA, at a special evening reception at the Madison Hall in the Library of Congress, Washington DC.

The reception, which was also attended by representatives from Congress, business leaders, the non-profit and peace-building sectors, and the media, celebrated the launch of Generations For Peace Inc. as a charitable non-profit corporation in the USA.

HRH Princess Sarah Al-Feisal, Co-Founder and President, emphasised the importance of the launch: “The launch marks another milestone in the evolution of Generations For Peace, from humble beginnings in 2007, to being ranked in the ‘Top 100 NGOs in the World’ by the Global Journal earlier this year. This move really serves to strengthen Generations For Peace’ engagement with US partners and donors, to support our inspirational Generations For Peace volunteers who have succeeded in breaking-down barriers, shattering stereotypes, and building greater tolerance and understanding.”

Speaking at the reception, Founder and Chairman of Generations For Peace, HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein, said: “As we gather here tonight, too many people – children, youth and adults – in too many communities around the world, are suffering from conflict and violence of many different forms. Young bodies and minds are maimed, hopes are destroyed, amazing talent and potential are strangled and wasted. Attitudes are hardened and polarised by stereotypes, ignorance and fear. Cycles of violence are repeated.

“In the face of these challenges, our Generations For Peace volunteers are taking a stand. Quietly, with determination and courage, they are working to transform conflicts and reduce violence, to build a more peaceful future for their communities.”

Welcoming the guests to the Library of Congress, H.E. Ambassador Bouran said “As a Jordanian, I have been following the impressive evolution of Generations For Peace since its founding by Their Royal Highnesses in 2007. It is a unique organisation, doing important work and achieving impressive results. So it makes me, and indeed all of my team, immensely proud to share this moment, and to stand witness to the establishment of Generations For Peace in the United States.”

An emotionally compelling video was shown at the reception, presenting inspiring testimonials from Generations For Peace volunteers leading change in challenging contexts in their communities. It concluded with a call-to-action to share their stories and to attract more volunteers to dedicate their time and talent; more partners to support programmes or research; and more donors to contribute to the Generations For Peace endowment fund.
