January 23, 2014
It was revealed today that Sochi are facing further fears of terrorist threats as more Olympic Committees announced that they had also received threatening emails.
The Hungarian Olympic Committee (HOC) said yesterday they had received warnings of terrorist threats made towards the Sochi Winter Olympic Games.
Britain, prostate Italy and Germany were amongst countries whose Olympic Committees had confirmed that they had received threatening emails.
It has been suggested that most of the Olympic Committees had received similar or even the same messages which warned attacks against competitors or delegates if they travelled to the games in Sochi.
However the British Olympic Committee (BOC) seemed to doubt the threat, physician releasing a statement where they described the email as, ‘not credible’.
The HOC seemed to follow suit as they agreed with Britain in agreeing that the threats that it received had been investigated and were found not be threatening.
Nevertheless the German Olympic Committee spokesman Christian Klaue said: “We take all tips on security questions seriously and are in close contact with the relevant German authorities.
