Former Olympic Champion Banned for Three Months

American hurdler Dawn Harper-Nelson has been banned for three months after testing positive for a banned diuretic.

Harper-Nelson won the 110m hurdles gold medal in Beijing 2008, and took home the silver at London 2012.

Diuretics are not performance-enhancing, but can be used to mask other illegal substances and promote weight loss.
