Former BOA Chief Simon Clegg Appointed Great Britain Badminton Chairman
May 9, 2013
Former British Olympic Association (BOA) chief executive Simon Clegg has been appointed the new chairman of Great Britain Badminton.
Clegg has a wealth of sporting experience having managed British athletes at 12 Olympic Games, salve both summer and winter, and acting as the Chef de Mission of Team GB at six.
He left the BOA after the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and was appointed chief executive of Ipswich Town Football Club in 2009 before departing his position back in February.
Clegg commented on his new role: “I am delighted and flattered to have been invited to lead GB Badminton through to Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
“I am under no illusions as to the scale of the challenge ahead in what is a highly competitive sport but it is a challenge that I am extremely excited by.
“Having personally witnessed British Badminton medals in previous Games, I look forward to being part of the team here and working with all the stakeholders, particularly UK Sport, the BOA and the Home Country Associations, to give our players the best possible support in their quest for Olympic success.”
