Florentino Perez to Stand Again for Real Madrid Presidency

May 21, 2013

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has confirmed he will stand for the position again at the club’s elections on 16 June.

No one is expected to stand against Perez, who is in his second term as Madrid’s president, having held the post from 2000-2006 before returning in 2009. His return was unopposed as no one else was able to provide the €57 million ($86.3m) guarantee the club require to stand for election.

His first reign is famous for the “Galacticos” era, where the club signed stars including David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo and Ronaldo.

Real Madrid have won the Champions League and three La Liga titles while Perez has been at the helm.
