Fish & Co to Title Sponsor 2013 Singapore National Youth Sailing Championships

March 19, 2013

The 2013 Singapore National Youth Sailing Championships has set a new mark for Singapore’s youth sailing scene with Fish & Co., coming onboard as the title sponsor.

Participants in the annual event, renamed the Fish & Co. National Youth Sailing Championships 2013, will benefit from the two-year sponsorship through an enriched experience both on-water and ashore.

“At Fish & Co., we believe in the spirit of adventure and the passion for competitive sports. Sailing is one that ignites the development of positive character traits, a sense of self- reliance and an enhanced ability for sharp and quick reflexes. As a business that caters vastly to the youths and the young at heart, we take pride in our involvement with a sport that captures that spirit,” says Mr. Hoo Hoe Keat, Deputy Managing Director, Fish & Co. Restaurants Pte Ltd.

Fish & Co. have pledged a sponsorship sum tending towards 6 figures to fund the event in the next 2 to 4 editions.

The foremost sailing event in the local Youth sailing calendar is well-known as a platform for top-class racing and has grown into a much anticipated regatta for both local and international youth sailors. What started as a local regatta several years ago has now developed into a key competition with pre-regatta training camps for international sailors from foreign countries.

This year’s regatta, from 19th to 23rd March off the National Sailing Centre, is expected to witness stiff competition and aggressive racing as it is also one of the qualifying platforms for the 2013 ISAF Youth World Championships for Singaporean youth sailors.

“SingaporeSailing is pleased to welcome onboard a familiar and successful Singapore brand in Fish & Co. to partner the event. This partnership refreshes an important regatta that has been the breeding ground for many of Singapore’s youth sailors, and the launch-pad to international success,” shares Mr Rupert Ong, SingaporeSailing Vice President overseeing High Performance and Youth Sailing Development.

Racing concludes on Sunday 23rd March, followed by prize-giving by Mr Ng Ser Miang, International Olympic Committee (IOC) Vice-President and SingaporeSailing patron.
