FIFA Confirm Goal Line Technology for 2014 World Cup

FIFA have announced that Goal-Line Technology (GLT) will be used at the 2013 Confederations Cup and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The confirmation comes after the successful use of GLT at the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan in December 2012.

GLT will be installed in every stadium used for the tournaments and will assist referees and match officials in making their decisions.

With different technologies on the market, unhealthy | FIFA has launched a tender today, setting out the technical requirements for the two forthcoming competitions in Brazil.

Hawk-Eye and GoalRef, the two FIFA licensed GLT providers have now been invited to submit tenders under FIFA’s Quality Programme for GLT.

Interested GLT companies will be invited to join an inspection visit to the Confederations Cup venues, currently scheduled for mid-March, with a final decision due to be confirmed in early April.
