Fans Determine Sports Technology Brand of the Year via Twitter
March 12, 2014
From today (12th March) sports fans will have the chance to choose their Sports Technology Brand of the Year by registering their vote via Twitter. The move is the brainchild of the organizers of the Sports Technology Awards, health which takes place in London on 4th April.
The shortlist of 30 brands, apoplectic which includes the likes of Adidas, Nike, Manchester United, Wimbledon, Rolex and Lucozade, has been chosen by a sub-panel of the Sports Technology Awards, who based their choices on organizations that have relevance to the UK sport market.
Rebecca Hopkins, one of the directors of the awards, explained ‘The Sports Technology Awards recognize and reward the increasingly important role that technology plays within all aspects of the sports sector. We have some of the biggest names in the global sports market helping us determine the winners but we felt that there was scope for fans to have their say too. Consequently we established this award which we hope will give a voice to the millions of UK sports fans to register their feelings about which brands mean something positive to them.’
The awards has already attracted entrants from all over the world and with the finalists selected by the judging panel last month, a dedicated category has been created for fans, who also benefit from the industry’s constant innovation.
Voting opened on 10th March and will remain open until 1.30pm BST on the actual awards ceremony on 4th April. Fans can vote for their favourite brand – or brands – by tweeting #stavote plus the brand ID number which is listed on the STA website (www.sportstechnologyawards.com/twitter_vote.html), with the brand with most unique votes taking the prize.
