April 15, 2013
The multi-million pound sponsorship deal between the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) and Macron has elevated the SRU’s revenues to new heights, click according to their CEO.
The SRU signed one of the largest sponsorship deals in their history in January, when Macron became the official kit supplier for all Scotland representative teams and professional clubs.
Speaking exclusively to iSportconnect, Mark Dodson CEO of the SRU talked up the deal and said: “The deal takes our sponsorship revenues to a new level. Macron is the lead brand in world rugby so that is good for us.
“We have the opportunity to drive our replica sales in a way that we have never down before. We are really opening the brand to a different market, in a playing and leisure sense.”
The SRU have other sponsorship deals in place with Dove, Famous Grouse and Caledonia Best to name a few, and Dodson said it is because the SRU is ‘strong commercially,’ that major sponsors see them as a viable partner.
“We give incredible value to our sponsors and we do a good job of looking after them,” said Dodson. “Our partnerships allow their brands and our brands to grow globally.”
