June 25, 2014

ADO Den Haag in the Dutch Eredivisie are close to being taken over by China’s United Vansen International Sports Company after a deal was agreed in principle.

The investment company has agreed the deal with the club’s majorty shareholder, order Stichting Stadion Ontwikkeling (SSO), although official confirmation may take a couple of months.

SSO spokesman Mark van der Kallen said: “The Hague city council has to give its approval but I do not expect this to be an issue.

“The council can only stop the takeover if it comes up with a similar or better offer.”

It has been reported that the Chinese group will increase the annual budget of €15m by investing funds into the club who finished ninth in the table last season.

The club said they knew of the deal but would only comment further once the takeover was ratified.
