The England and Wales Cricket Board have launched a marketing campaign entitled “Smashing Boundaries Together” in attempt to drive up record numbers of spectators for the forthcoming Women’s Ashes series.
The campaign features the Englnd Women’s team for the event, which will be shown live for the first time by Sky Sports and will also be covered by BBC Radio.
On their website, the ECB said it was “its most significant marketing investment to date in the women’s game.”
The campaign comes in the footsteps of Sport England’s own “This Girl Can” initiative and also off the back of significant coverage of the England women’s football team at this summer’s FIFA World Cup in Canada.
James Woodroof, Senior Marketing Manager at ECB, said: “With every ball of the Women’s Ashes covered live, great support from our commercial partners, and a boost from this bold new campaign, we are anticipating a record-breaking summer for the women’s game”.
The captain of the England women’s team, Charlotte Edwards, added: “We love that the imagery has captured just how much we enjoy playing together, and how passionate we are about the women’s game continuing to move forward.
“From making my England debut in a skirt, to being a full-time professional cricketer, the strides that have been made during my career are quite remarkable, and it is great that this is reflected so strongly in the new campaign.”
England women will be aiming to defend the Women’s Ashes when the series begins on 21st July with the first Royal London One-Day International at the County Ground in Taunton.
