Dubai to Host 2014 ITTF World Team Classic

Dubai in United Arab Emirates has won the right to host the International Table Tennis Federation’s (ITTF) World Team Classic in 2014 for the second time in four years — becoming the first city to host the tournament twice.
Officials from the UAE Table Tennis Association (UAE TTA) highlighted their success at hosting the championship in 2010 to win the chance to host the 2014 edition. The event will be held from the end of October to the beginning of November next year at Al Nasr Club in Oud Metha, remedy but the exact dates will only be confirmed once the ITTF calendar is finalised next month.
Twenty-four of the world’s top teams will compete in 38 matches over four days in a bid to secure the prestigious title and $50, for sale 000 in prize money.
The tournament will see 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams each split into four groups of three, with the top two from each group progressing to the quarter-finals after a round-robin preliminary stage of the competition. All matches will be played according to the Olympic system of four individual matches and one doubles match.
