Dubai Expands Jockey Club Partnership At Newmarket

August 15, 2018

Dubai has entered into a new commercial rights partnership with Jockey Club Racecourses until 2022.

Dubai has extended its partnership with the Jockey Club’s Newmarket Racecourses for a further five years. Dubai’s sponsorship portfolio will this year also include the Dubai £500,000 Cesarewitch.

Dubai will continue to be headline partner of the Dubai Future Champions Festival, which takes place at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile racecourse on October 12-13, 2018.

In a double boost for the Cesarewitch, the Dubai deal not only brings a new sponsor but has also doubled the value of prize money, making the race the joint most valuable Flat handicap in Europe.

The significant increase in prize money is part of a wider stakeholder backed strategy to enhance the entire Flat staying programme in Great Britain.

Amy Starkey, East Regional Director for Jockey Club Racecourses, who runs Newmarket Racecourses, said: “It is our aim for the prize fund of the Dubai Cesarewitch to climb to £1 million and for it to become one of the most anticipated and competitive races in the whole of the racing calendar.

“With its field of 34 runners, starting in Cambridgeshire and finishing in Suffolk, the Cesarewitch Handicap has a heritage that few other races can match and in recent years it has become renowned for attracting quality and established performers coming from both Flat and Jumps codes of our sport. We are excited about taking the race to another level; for owners this could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete for a prize of this size.”
