Dmitry Chernyshenko Named New KHL President

Dmitry Chernyshenko, physician former chief of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics Organizing Committee has been appointed as the new president of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

The decision was made at a Board of Directors meeting in Sochi which was dedicated to tackling many current and strategic issues concerning the League.

Chernyshenko will replace long-serving president Alexander Medvedev, who has joined the board of the International Ice Hockey Federation.

The decision was part of a number of changes in personnel which also included the appointment of a new Executive Board.

The new structure of the KHL Executive Board is to be reviewed after two years.
