DHL’s Fiona Taag and EPCR Chairman Halliday to Join Panel for Developing Rugby Business Event
October 12, 2015
iSportconnect, the world’s largest global private network of sports business executives, is delighted to announce Fiona Taag, Global Sponsorship Manager at DHL and Simon Halliday, Chairman of the European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) as the latest panellists for the ‘Developing Rugby Business’ event.
The special rugby-themed event will take place on 22nd October at the 5-Star Grange City Hotel in London.
Fiona and Simon will be joining Michael Goldstein, Vice President of Global Sponsorships at Mastercard and Tom Kingsley, Director of Sport and Sponsorship at EY, who were previously confirmed as panellists.
Fiona is an experienced marketing professional that has spent almost 10 years of her career with leading global logistics provider, DHL.
For the past three and a half years, she has managed DHL’s portfolio of global sponsorship properties, including Formula 1, Manchester United, Cirque du Soleil and Rugby World Cup among others.
As a New Zealand national, it is not surprising that Fiona is no stranger to rugby, but she is also no stranger to the world’s premier rugby Tournament, having managed DHL’s Rugby World Cup sponsorship activation programme in New Zealand in 2011.
Simon Halliday was appointed as the independent chairman of EPCR in April 2015, officially taking up the role in May.
As independent Chairman, Simon has been tasked with helping to shape EPCR’s strategy as the organisation grows its business and increases revenue distribution to the participant clubs.
Halliday is also a former professional rugby player who enjoyed a successful career as a player featuring in two England Grand Slams and the 1991 Rugby World Cup final, before going on to further success in the stockbroking and investment banking sectors while maintaining strong ties with the game worldwide.
This unique event will look at the success of the Rugby World Cup 2015, both on and off the pitch, how sponsors contributed to this success, the legacy this will leave behind in the UK, like the London 2012 Olympics and the future of rugby, particularly looking forward to the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
iSportconnect Chairman Michael Cunnah said: “We’re thrilled to have Fiona and Simon on board for this special rugby event. Having worked closely on the Rugby World Cup on several occasions, Fiona’s input will add real value to the rugby business discussions and as a former player and now chairman of EPCR, we look forward to Simon providing an expert view of the impact of Rugby World Cup 2015 and the future of the sport.”
More details for the event will be announced in the coming weeks, including more panellists and the agenda and topics.
