David Longmuir Leaves Scottish Football after Doncaster Hired as SPFL CEO

July 10, 2013

Former Scottish Football League (SFL) CEO David Longmuir has left Scottish football after Neil Doncaster was appointed chief executive of the new Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL).

Longmuir was vying for the role with Doncaster, who was in the same position at the Scottish Premier League (SPL), but ultimately lost out in an announcement that was made last week.

Now, a statement from the SPFL read: “Following the decision to appoint Neil Doncaster to the role of CEO in the SPFL, David Longmuir’s employment has come to an end.”

Longmuir had been the CEO of the SFL since 2007 and has previous experience in the alcohol industry.
