July 19, 2013
Major Legaue Baseball (MLB) franchise the Chicago Cubs have moved one step closer to renovating Wrigley Field for $500m, shop after approval was granted by another city commission and the local alderman.
A report from the Chicago Sun-Times claims that the Chicago Plan Commision approved the proposal on Thursday.
The plans to renovate Wrigley and to develop a nearby property also include the introduction of an electronic Jumbotron above the ivy-covered outfield walls.
Alderman Tom Tunney gave his approval after being assured by Mayor Rahm Emanuel that there would be no more outfield signs other than the Jumbotron.
The City Council are expected to approve the plans because of Tunney and Emanuel’s approval.
