Cricket South Africa Announces New Twenty20 Competition

February 6, 2017

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced plans for a new franchise-based Twenty20 league, and is seeking overseas investment in the competing teams.

The league, provisionally titled #T20 Global League, will launch in late 2017 with eight competing teams. A deadline of March 3 has been set for potential franchises to express interest in entering the league.

The 2016 season of the existing T20 Challenge Series, which ran from November 12 to December 16, was intended to be a transitional one ahead of planned changes for the 2017 campaign.
