Coventry City Reveal New Sponsor for Arsenal FA Cup Clash

January 20, 2014

English League One club Coventry City have announced they will receive backing from a local business when they play against Arsenal in the FA Cup fourth round at the Emirates Stadium.

Estate Agents Pure Properties’ logo will feature on the back of the shirt in the game which will be aired to a national audience on Friday, January 24, on BT Sport.

But the decision was not taken with business in mind as joint owners Richard Burke and Matthew Branch – lifelong fans of the club – chose to sponsor the shirt purely out of their love for the Sky Blues.

The company has been trading for four years and is currently undergoing an exciting rebrand with a new website, premises and new staff all imminent within the next few weeks, but the die-hard duo still found time to strike the deal with the club.

“It was a heart over head decision,” said Richard. “We’ve supported the club all our lives and we didn’t really think with our business heads on! When we got the call to say there was an opportunity, we weren’t going to turn it down.

“We remember going to Highfield Road as young kids, and I’ve taken my kids to games too, it is special. We’ve only really got 1987 to shout about but hopefully some good times will come!

“We’ve worked with the club before and obviously it’s a bonus if we get our logo on national TV.

“But as a local business, we’re not going to get calls from London asking us for a quote on their house, the decision was made purely on being fans of the club, and we hope the lads can get a good result in a tough game at the Emirates.
“We’ll be at the game and it will make us proud to see our name on our boyhood club’s shirts.”

Joint-owner Matthew echoes Richard’s sentiments and also believes that the sponsorship can encourage more people to help back the Sky Blues.
“As we are life-long fans, our reason to sponsor was to hopefully encourage small and large businesses to get behind the club,” Matthew added.

“We think support can come from people in many different ways and backing our beloved club by this sponsorship will hopefully build belief back in the club as a small stepping stone and a way to getting our club back to where it belongs.
“We are very proud and equally grateful to Coventry City for giving us this opportunity also”

Tynan Scope, corporate sales manager for Coventry City, said: “It’s great to be working with Pure Properties again.

“When I spoke to them about the opportunity, they jumped at it and while they might not get enquiries from London, hopefully there will be a fair few Coventry fans tuning into the coverage and there at the game who will pick up on the name.”
