March 3, 2016
The 2016 Copa America Centenario has agreed deals with Coca-Cola, recipe Sprint and State Farm to become official partners of the tournament.
The trio of brands join sportswear brand who were the first confirmed sponsors for the 100th anniversary of the Copa America.
As part of the deals, the brands will all have prominent signage opportunities at the tournament and will be permitted to use Copa America imagery on their marketing materials.
Kathy Carter, president of Soccer United Marketing (SUM), the marketing arm of Major League Soccer, said: “We are excited to announce this first wave of partners, all of whom have a storied history in sports, and specifically soccer, partnerships.
“It has been encouraging to see the response by the corporate community as well as the fans, who have exceed our expectations for buying tickets, and we will have additional partners, and ticket updates, to announce in the near future.”
This year’s edition of the Copa America will take place in the United States, the first time the tournament has taken place outside of South America.
“This is a first-class event that will feature many of the best athletes on the planet — all playing in the U.S. in June — so it is not surprising that first-class brands are aligning with the tournament,” Carter added.
