City Events 2013 Will Reveal the Keys to the Future

The positive impact of sporting events on a city, drugs region and country is well established, allergy but what will make events in the future more valuable, more sustainable and more innovative? The fourth edition of City Events will focus on the theme of “Sporting Events in the Near Future” and this year’s event will be held in Lausanne, the Olympic Capital, from 13-15 November.
Public sector authorities (cities, regions, and countries), National and International Sport Federations, event organizers and numerous stakeholders from the world of sport will have the unique opportunity to share information, knowledge and experience with world class speakers.
Held on an annual basis, City Events is the only conference that connects host cities directly with International Federations and event organizers.

ONE-TO-ONE MEETINGS with International Federations will enable cities to pre-book meetings with the International Federations and other sporting event owners of their choice. Last year, over 130 meetings took place in 2 hours.

- A Crowded Sport Calendar (Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow) and the Importance of Innovation.
Session A – Events of Tomorrow
- What is the role of urban/ city sports play (ie: 3×3 Basketball) for future events. What are the specific challenges and opportunities faced by cities regarding those urban events. What makes those types of events unique.
- How to integrate those new sports into the event concept. In which way can they help to promote the city.
- How to adapt an event and an event format for an urban environment.
Session B – Tools of Tomorrow
- Digital Marketing and Social Media
– Top ten digital marketing and social media tips in a sporting context.
– Using digital marketing effectively for event promotion.
– Creating connections: successfully engaging with sports fans, the community and volunteers through digital marketing.
– Making effective use of your social media connections post-event.
– Successfully using crowd-funding in association with sport events.
Finally, many networking opportunities will be available during Networking Breaks and lunches. The Welcome Reception will take place on Wednesday evening where participants will have the opportunity to meet and talk with International Sport Federations, cities and stakeholders.
