Chevrolet to Sponsor Brazil National Team

August 18, 2014

American car manufacturer Chevrolet has signed a deal to sponsor the Brazil men’s and women’s national football teams.

The deal between the pair will run for five years, abortion from 2014-15 to 2018-19, meaning they’ll be sponsoring the team during their participation in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The agreement will take effect on September 5 when the Brazil men’s national team are scheduled to play a friendly against Colombia in USA.

As part of the deal Chevrolet will have their branding on the team’s official team coach, training shorts and billboards

According to the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) president José Maria Marin, the national governing body had received several offers of commercial partnerships from companies despite the team’s disappointing exit from the 2014 World Cup.

This deal continues Chevrolet’s expansion into the football market after agreeing a seven-year deal with English Premier League giants Manchester United to run from 2014-15 until 2020-21. The agreement is worth an estimated £357m ($559).
