Australia’s national netball team have received a boost ahead of the Constellation Cup with Australia’s largest pharmacy retailer Chemist Warehouse teaming up with netball.

The partnership will see the company, with over 270 outlets nationally, join the sport for the next two years as an Official Sponsor of the Australian Diamonds, Real Insurance Netball Test Series and next year’s Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015, and as Official Category Partner of the ANZ Championship.

“We’re thrilled to have Chemist Warehouse join our growing stable of influential partners, who share in our philosophy of encouraging healthy living for all Australians,” Netball Australia CEO Kate Palmer said.

“It’s reassuring to have the support of Chemist Warehouse as our sport prepares for the one of the biggest years in our history with the Diamonds set to defend their world championship title on home soil when Sydney hosts the Netball World Cup in 2015.”

Chemist Warehouse Chief Operating Officer Mario Tascone is thrilled to become involved with the world’s leading netball nation.

“At Chemist Warehouse we love our sport and we love Australia so we are thrilled to partner up with the Australian Diamonds, a national team that always delivers world-class performances,” Tascone said.

“The Diamonds gold medal-winning performance at this year’s Commonwealth Games was truly inspirational and Chemist Warehouse is honoured to be given the opportunity to sponsor a team that all of us, as Australians, are really proud of.”

“Not only is Chemist Warehouse putting its support behind the Diamonds, but we’re also excited to partner the world’s leading netball competition the ANZ Championship for the next two seasons.

“As well, we’re excited to get involved in growing the sport at a grassroots level through supporting the ANZ NetSetGO program.”

The Australian Diamonds are ranked number one in the world and are defending World Champions and Commonwealth Games gold medallists following victory in Glasgow in August.

The Real Insurance Netball Test Series will see Australia host the second and third Tests of the Constellation Cup against New Zealand’s Silver Ferns in Melbourne (October 8) and Sydney (October 11) followed by a two-Test series against England in Bendigo (October 19) and Canberra (October 22).

The upcoming Test Series will be one of the Diamonds last international matches on home soil before next year’s Netball World Cup, which will see the top 16 netballing nations in world descend on Sydney’s Allphones Arena from 7 – 16 August.
