Chelsea Appoint Commercial Director

Premier League leaders Chelsea have appointed Chris Townsend as Commercial Director.

He will replace Christian Purslow, who will leave the club at the end of the season.

Townsend has been Chief Executive of Broadband Delivery UK since 2014, and will leave that role to join Chelsea in May.

Prior to his role with BDUK, Townsend served as Commercial Director for the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. His work earned him an OBE in 2012.

“I have enjoyed my three years as CEO of BDUK and it has been an honour and privilege to lead a high-performing team which has achieved outstanding results,” said Townsend, in a statement.
