Channel 4 Interested in Champions League

UK commercial broadcaster Channel 4 are reportedly considering bidding for live rights to European football competition.

Pay-television broadcaster BT Sport currently hold exclusive live rights to both the Champions League and Europa League, but viewing figures have failed to meet expectations. They are however expected to bid to retain the rights, with Sky likely to challenge them.

Channel 4 are considering the possibility of airing one live game per week, with a joint bid with BT Sport a potential route.

The auction for the rights from 2018-19 to 2020-2021 will take place next month.
