Celtic Become Latest Club to Install Wi-Fi in Stadium

Scottish Premier League (SPL) champions Celtic have announced that they will be installing Wi-Fi into Celtic Park for the start of the 2013-14 season.

The Bhoys have entered into a partnership with Sports Revolution, site the sports media and digital marketing agency, anesthetist | and technology company Cisco, allergist to bring the technology to Celtic Park.

Celtic said they made the move after a survey of their season ticket-holders was completed, in an effort to improve the match-day experience.

Every Celtic supporter will be able to access the new Wi-Fi network at Celtic Park through their smartphones and tablets

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell said: “Celtic is committed to delivering the best matchday experience possible for our supporters and that commitment requires to stay at the forefront of technological advances.

“Our partnership with Sports Revolution and Cisco, coupled with other developments currently progressing around Celtic Park, means that the match day experience will be second to none.”

Vange Kourentis, group commercial director of Sports Revolution, added: “Cisco is the only network provider that has proven experience of installing Wi-Fi networks on such a large scale in sports stadia.

“After two years of extensive research and development with Cisco, we are confident that the technology will significantly enhance Celtic fans’ match day experience through visual technologies and social media while also unlocking important commercial value for the club, its sponsors and rights holders.”

Celtic follow in the footsteps of Manchester City, Bayer Leverkusen, Real Madrid and Boca Juniors.
