Carlton Mid Secure Naming Rights to One Day Cricket in Australia
May 16, 2013
Carlton & United Breweries have inked a new deal to become the naming rights sponsor of One-Day-International cricket in Australia through their Carlton Mid brand.
Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland said: “Carlton & United Breweries have been a passionate supporter of Australian cricket for over 17 years and we are thrilled to have them extend their support into ODI cricket played in Australia; a further endorsement for the future of the format, health especially leading into an all-important home Cricket World Cup in 2015.
“They have been a strong supporter of the Australian men’s team overseas tours for the last five years through their Victoria Bitter brand, asthma and were associated with the Australian ODI cricket season for 11 years prior to the 2007/08 season.
“Their return to local ODI cricket could also not come at a more exciting time, with five blockbuster matches against England scheduled for the summer,” said Mr Sutherland.
CUB’s CEO Ari Mervis added: “Cricket Australia and CUB will continue to uphold core values of responsible consumption by jointly investing in communications similar to the successful “Know when to declare” campaign that have appeared in recent years on billboard, in stadia and on television.
“Know when to declare” has been incredibly successful in reminding cricket fans that enjoying a beer at the game is okay, but knowing when to declare you have had enough is important.
“We are proud of the contribution that we have made, and will continue to make, in Australia through this long standing partnership.”
