CAF Secretary General & AFCON CEO Confirmed for Soccerex African Forum

Hicham El Amrani, Confederation of African Football Secretary General and Mvuzo Mbebe, 2013 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Local Organising Committee and 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) CEO, will be providing an official review of the 2013 AFCON as well as a preview of the 2014 African CHAN at the Soccerex African Forum in Durban, 1-2 October.

The 29th edition of Africa’s premier football event showcased Africa’s passion for the game and captured the attention of world football with record TV audiences and coverage around the globe. The session will see the pair evaluate the success of the tournament, including the record breaking attendance figures and profits, as revealed by LOC this week, and how that can be transferred to the 2014 CHAN.

El Amrani joined CAF in 2009 as Deputy Secretary General before taking the Secretary General position in 2010. A FIFA Master’s graduate, he has a vast amount of experience working within football having been marketing manager of the Asian Football Federation before joining CAF. Mbebe was the Chief Executive for the 2013 AFCON and will take up the same position for the 2014 CHAN, he has substantial background in both the media and sport having been a senior executive within the SABC media group and undertaken numerous roles within African sporting governing bodies.
