September 24, 2013

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that Rabat, ambulance Marrakech, Agadir and Tangier will be the host cities for the Morocco Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2015.

Casablanca will also serve as an alternative venue for the tournament that is played 17 January to 7 February.

At a meeting at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, the executive committee also announced that the 2015 African Beach Soccer Championships would be held in Seychelles, the 2015 U-23 Championships would be in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the African Women’s Championship would be hosted by Cameroon and Zambia would host the 2017 African U-20 Championship.

Reports also suggest that Libya have submitted a bold proposal to host the 2017 AFCON competition, despite the political instability of the nation.

Misrata, Tripoli and Benghazi have been mentioned as the cities to host games, with a 60,000-seater stadium being built in Tripoli.

Equatorial Guinea and Gabon who hosted the 2012 event have been mooted as alternative hosts in 2017.
