Bupa Remain Official Health Insurance Partner to UK Sport

Private health insurance provider Bupa will continue as Official Health Insurance Partner to UK Sport the governing body revealed.
Bupa has already supported the Athlete Medical Scheme (AMS) for the past nine years and the latest announcement formalises its relationship with UK Sport until June 2013.
Over 1,200 athletes on the World Class Performance Programme benefit from specialist medical treatment under the AMS, including diagnostic tests, scans and surgical procedures.
Liz Nicholl, chief executive of UK Sport, said: “Providing world-class medical support to our top athletes is of paramount importance.
“Early identification, treatment and recovery are all critical in allowing them to compete at the very highest level and prolong their careers.”
She added that UK Sport – which invests more than £100 million per year in the nation’s best Olympic and Paralympic athletes – is “delighted” that its relationship with Bupa is set to continue.
Natalie-Jane Macdonald, managing director of Bupa Health and Wellbeing, said the private health insurance provider was “proud” of its involvement with Britain’s athletes.
