Bupa Extends Sponsorship of Santos Tour Down Under

Healthcare brand Bupa has renewed its long-term support of the Santos Tour Down Under, ed the southern hemisphere’s largest cycling event, cheap for a further three years.
The agreement will see Bupa sponsoring the Santos Tour Down Under until at least 2017.
Tourism Minister Leon Bignell said Bupa – which began sponsoring the Santos Tour Down Under in 2004 – plays a major role in the event.
“The Santos Tour Down Under is fortunate to have a range of valued sponsors whose passion for the event has increased awareness and helped it grow, health ” he said.
“We’re delighted Bupa has extended its sponsorship for another three years.”
Bupa’s support for the Santos Tour Down Under includes its role as naming rights sponsor of the Bupa Challenge Tour, which sees thousands of recreational riders tackle the same route on the same day as the professionals.
This year’s Bupa Challenge Tour will take place between Unley and Victor Harbor on Friday 24 January.
“The Bupa Challenge Tour encourages people to lead active and healthy lives, and it’s always a thrill to see thousands of people enjoying their ride,” said the Minister.
“Children love the Bupa mini tour for kids, which allows them to ride on the same circuit as the pros and celebrates the simple joy of being on a bike.”
Bupa’s Marketing Director, John Moore, who is participating in the 112.5 kilometre ride, said the company is delighted to extend its partnership with this iconic event.
“The Santos Tour Down Under showcases just how fun and rewarding exercise can be,” he said.
“We’ve also taken our support up a notch this year to ensure we’re there for riders before, during, and after the race.
“This includes developing a range of tailored nutrition and training plans – that can be downloaded at bupa.com.au/community – to ensure every rider is fully prepared when the gun goes off.
“The much loved ‘Bupa Troopas’ will again be on-course cheering, motivating and encouraging; as well as helping out with things like tyre pumping.
“And the Bupa Chill Zone is back to ensure riders can cool down and recover after they cross the finish line in.”
The Santos Tour Down Under will be held in Adelaide and regional South Australia from 18-26 January 2014.
