November 22, 2013

Following on from the major announcement about securing exclusive TV rights to the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, BT Sport have also revealed they will have co-exclusive on demand and mobile clip rights to both competitions shared with News UK.

From 2015/16 BT Sport subscribers will not only be able to watch all UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League action exclusively live on BT Sport, they will also be able to watch clips of the action afterwards from all the matches on their mobile, tablet or laptop via the BT Sport app and www.btsport.com.

John Petter, chief executive, BT Consumer, said: “BT Sport has already pledged to make UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League action far more accessible and affordable for customers. The addition of clips rights means that fans need not worry about missing any of the vital moments from matches.”

BT Sport is the UK’s newest sports TV service, with three channels showing live top tier action from the Barclays Premier League and the Aviva Premiership as well as a host of other sport.

From 2015/16 BT Sport will be the new UK home of live UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League football, after a tender process in which BT won the exclusive live broadcast rights to all 350 matches from both tournaments.

BT has more than two million customers who take BT Sport and the channels reach around four million homes when BT’s wholesale deal with Virgin Media is taken into account.
