BT Floor Rivals To Land Fury Comeback Fight

May 3, 2018

UK broadcaster BT Sport has secured the exclusive rights for boxer Tyson Fury’s long-awaited comeback fight after extending its partnership with promoter Frank Warren.

The Gypsy King’s last bout came against Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 when he beat the Ukrainian on points to become heavyweight champion. He later relinquished his WBO and WBA belts in 2016 to concentrate on his recovery from mental health issues.

Fury will make his much-anticipated return to the ring at the Manchester Arena on 9th June against an opponent that has yet to be announced.

The British boxer has been cleared to resume his career after accepting a backdated two-year ban since testing positive for a banned substance three years ago.

Andy Haworth, Managing Director of Strategy and Content for BT Consumer, said of the deal: “It is a golden era for British boxing and never has the Warren stable of fighters looked more exciting, with a great line up of established names and up-and-coming young fighters.”

“I’m delighted that BT Sport has extended its partnership with myself and Queensberry Promotions,” added Frank Warren. “The first year of our partnership has seen us deliver some outstanding fights and we look forward to some even bigger nights in 2018 and beyond.”
