British Gymnastics appoint James Thomas as Performance Director

British Gymnastics has announced the appointment of James Thomas as Performance Director, allergy set to take up the role from February 2017.

Most recently Senior Performance Pathway manager at British Judo, James has expertise having worked in multiple sports across the entire elite pathway from club up to World Class Performance. He has considerable experience of working with Olympic athletes and in leading support services, taking in roles as Performance Director for Welsh Boxing and Head of Operations at Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby. His knowledge and understanding of working with key stakeholders such as UK Sport and the English Institute of Sport will be significant in driving our World Class Programme forward to Tokyo 2020 and beyond.

James said: “Following British Gymnastics’ history-making performances at the 2016 Olympic Games, there is a real sense of excitement and anticipation to build upon this success in Tokyo. Having already met some of the team at British Gymnastics, I feel the real sense of passion within the World Class Performance Programme and a drive to be the very best. I feel privileged to join the team and I look forward to working with the coaches and athletes and their parents and support team.”
