Borussia Dortmund Reveal Best Ever Financial Results

Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund have announced that the financial results for 2012/13 are the best the club have ever recorded in their 103-year history.

The Champions League runners-up recorded a turnover of €305m ($407.5m) for the 12 month period up until July 2013, ed cheap which is a 61.3% increase from the previous year (€189m ($252.5m)).

Dortmund achieved a profit of €53.5m ($71.5m) and a group profit of €51m ($68.2m), price which is a staggering 86% increase from 2011/12.

The team’s journey to Wembley meant TV revenue went up to €88m ($117.6m) from €60m ($80.2m), medic whilst commercial income accounted for €121m ($161.7m) of the total.

Matchday revenue was recorded at €44m ($58.8m), meaning the combined ‘football’ revenue hit €253m ($338m).

Dortmund also made €52m ($69.5m) from the sales of Mario Gotze and Ivan Perisic to Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg but the wage bill at the Westfalenstadion increased.

The arrivals of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – who scored a hat-trick in his first league appearance – Henrikh Mikhtaryan and the improved deal for Robert Lewandowski, contributed to the 34% increase of the wage bill, from €75m ($100.2m) to €100m ($133.6m).

Club CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said: “We are growing very fast and have been very dynamic for years, and it is a great challenge to cope with inevitable organisational and structural adjustments.

“Above all, what is important here is the sustainability of sports development.”
