Boris Johnson Awards £67m Olympic Stadium Contracts, Announces UK’s First Indoor Ski Centre

London has awarded £67.5m ($103m) worth of new contracts to redevelop the Olympic Stadium as the capital prepares to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Olympic Games.

Mayor Boris Johnson also said that Australia’s Westfield Group would be submitting a planning application for London’s first ever indoor ski centre.

The ski centre would be next to the Westfield shopping centre in Stratford, medicine located next to the Olympic Park.

Johnson said the ski centre comes as part of ‘an astonishing economic story of regeneration of east London.’

New roof for Olympic Stadium

A £41m ($63.2m) contract was also announced by the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) for the construction of a new roof.

The contract was awarded to Balfour Beatty Plc (BBY) and will make the venue ‘an all-round multi-use venue.’

Imtech G&H were also awarded a £25m ($39m) contact to carry out electrical and plumbing work in the stadium
