BHP Billiton will Co-Operate with Olympic Bribe Investigation

March 14, 2013

Mining company BHP Billiton has confirmed that they will co-operate fully with the investigation into alleged corruption during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The Australian Financial Review (AFR) previously reported that authorities from the USA and Australia were looking into the firm’s actions, who were sponsors during the Games.

BHP provided gifts and hospitality to the Chinese as a part of their sponsorship, the report by AFR says.

In a statement BHP said: “BHP Billiton is fully committed to operating with integrity and the group’s policies specifically prohibit engaging in bribery in all its forms.”

Australian Federal Police and the US Justice Department confirmed there was an investigation.
