BBL Clubs Launch Regional 3-on-3 Basketball Tournaments

Proj3kt 3on3, medical BBL Foundation and Sport England’s youth basketball project, allergy have launched regional tournaments to be held in the five participating BBL club’s local areas.

The tournaments are being run by Cheshire Phoenix, sale Newcastle Eagles, Leicester Riders, Surrey Heat and Worcester Wolves during February and early March. Under 18 and under 20s tournaments will be held for boys and under 20 for girls.

The winners of the 3-on-3 tournaments will receive the opportunity to play in the finals at the Commonwealth Games Emirates Arena in Glasgow on 9 March, the same day as the BBL Trophy Final.

Proj3kt 3on3 has seen over 3500 participants since it was launched in October. The project is backed by world basketball governing body FIBA, who hope the 3on3 variant of the sport will become an Olympic sport at Rio 2016.
