MMA Champion Gilbert Melendez Signs Deal with Fitness Company Everlast

MMA lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez has agreed to an exclusive equipment endorsement deal with fitness apparel company Everlast.

Under the agreement, ampoule Melendez will continue to exclusively use Everlast equipment for his training needs, generic while also playing a role in direct-to-consumer/retail marketing initiatives . The fitness apparel company will also become the official equipment sponsor of Melendez’s gym — El Nino Training Center.

Sportingbet Australia to Sponsor Horse Racing’s W.S. Cox Plate

Bookmaking giant Sportingbet Australia have agreed a multi-million dollar sponsorship with the W.S. Cox Plate, an Australian Thoroughbred Horse Race held in Melbourne every October by the Moonee Valley Racing Club for the next five years.

Club chairman Bob Scarborough described the relationship with the corporate bookmaker as a massive coup for the club.

“It’s an exciting partnership that will greatly benefit both organisations and, importantly, will ensure that the W.S. Cox Plate remains as the Australian weight-for-age championship,” Scarborough said.

Tatts ended its sponsorship of the Cox Plate with the running of this year’s race, won by Pinker Pinker.

It’s the second major metropolitan club sponsorship Sportingbet Australia has secured in the past week.

Sportingbet has secured the naming rights for Sandown from the Melbourne Racing Club from January 1.

Sportingbet Australia has sponsored Moonee Valley’s premier sprint, the Manikato Stakes, and is heavily involved in its night racing season.

Sportingbet Australia’s involvement with the two clubs is further evidence of its commitment to plough money back into the industry.

Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said: “I have always said Sportingbet would contribute well over the product fee we pay to RVL and this is another example of how committed we are to ensuring racing in Victoria continues to grow.”

Caterham F1’s Parent Company Gains Performance Partnership with Sailing’s Alex Thomson Racing

Sports marketing firm Five West have announced their performance partnership with CaterhamComposites, the parent company of Caterham F1 with Sailing’s Alex Thomson Racing the first to benefit. 

The partnership will see Caterham Composites, a division of the Caterham Group, working with Five West ‘s grand prix yacht racing campaigns.

Caterham Composites is the design and performance specialist division of Caterham Group, the parent company of the Caterham F1 Team and Caterham Cars. Caterham Composites will lend their expertise in building technology solutions for carbon fibre structures in the motor-racing and airline industries to Five West’s ocean racing campaigns.

The partnership is an unprecedented move in competitive sailing, combining great British ocean racing talent and the technology and performance management expertise of Caterham Composites.  Alex Thomson Racing will be the first to benefit from the partnership.  Following his recent 2nd place finish in this year’s Transat Jacques Vabre and 4th place completion of the Transat B to B, Alex Thomson now has his sights set on being the first British sailor to win the solo, round-the-world Vendée Globe, which
starts on November 10th, 2012.  The partnership with Caterham Composites will facilitate the performance optimisation of Alex’s Open 60 yacht, HUGO BOSS, using advanced research andmethodology not previously available to sailing teams.

Crystal Palace Extend Deal with Main Sponsor GAC

English Championship side, Crystal Palace Football Club (CPFC) have renewed their long-standing shirt sponsorship deal with GAC until June 2014.

The agreement, which started in 2004, now represents a decade-long uninterrupted relationship between the south London club and the global shipping, logistics and marine services provider.

Under the new deal, which was finalised in October, GAC continues as the club’s main sponsor and its logo will be featured prominently on CPFC’s first team and replica shirts, as well as on media backdrops, pitch perimeter advertising boards and club literature.

BP to Sponsor Nine US Athletes Ahead of London 2012

BP America have announced its support for nine U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes as they prepare for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, including financial commitments to them and to charities of their choice in communities across the country.

BP America first announced its sponsorship of the 2012 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams in February 2010, and earlier this year the company extended its partnership with the U.S. Olympic Committee as its official energy partner through 2016. The announcement signals the company’s additional commitment to nine athletes who are training in hopes of representing Team USA in archery, cycling, gymnastics, track & field and swimming.

New York Giants/Jets MetLife Stadium Gets New Solar Power Sponsor

NRG and New Meadowlands Stadium Company have announced a new sponsorship agreement that will bring sustainable solar power to MetLife Stadium, generic home of the New York Jets and New York Football Giants, two iconic National Football League franchises.

Under the agreement, NRG will design, install and operate a custom solar power generating system—the Solar Ring—that will add a striking visual element encircling the top of the stadium. The Solar Ring will have the ability to display team colors and an array of additional hues to meet the needs of visiting events, including concerts and college sporting contests. Construction will begin in the spring of 2012, with an expected completion date of August 2012, prior to the first pre-season football game.

In addition, NRG will provide all of the additional electricity for the 82,500-seat stadium starting in June 2012.

The solar power system, consisting of approximately 1,500 individual panels manufactured by Atlantis Energy Systems of Poughkeepsie, New York, will be able to generate nearly 25 times the amount of electricity needed to power the integrated LED lighting and display system.

The panels will be assembled into 52 modules that will be raised to the top level of the stadium and bolted into a steel superstructure which will also provide shelter from rain and snow.

Under Armour Begins Foray into Athletics in Partnership with Northwestern University

Northwestern University and Under Armour, Inc. have announced a new multi-year partnership that designates Under Armour as the official outfitter of the university’s athletic program.

The partnership represents Under Armour’s first outfitter agreement with an athletic program that competes in the Big Ten Conference.
