Australian Baseball Federation Signs ANZ as Sponsor

The Australian Baseball Federation (ABF) have announced ANZ as the official sponsor of Team Australia for the 2013 World Baseball Classic exhibition matches with the Japanese National Baseball Team to be held in Osaka on 23 and 24 February 2013. 

Speaking of the sponsorship, medstore Australia Baseball Federation CEO Brett Pickett, said: “ANZ is a well-respected bank in Asia-Pacific and we are delighted to welcome them as the partner of the Japan Series. This sponsorship will help us deliver what will be an exciting series for Japanese and Australian baseball fans.”

Under an agreement reached between the Nippon Professional Baseball League (NPB) and Australian Baseball Federation (ABF) the 2013 Series will be hosted in the world renowned Osaka Dome and is expected to draw huge crowds as  well as millions of viewers across live television broadcasts in Japan.

These games in Japan will serve as Australia’s big-league preparation as a team unit for the World Baseball Classic.  Australia will go into official team camp on the 17th of this month in Taichung Taiwan, to commence preparation for their First Round WBC tournament which begins on 2nd March.

ANZ Group has a strong history supporting major sports tournaments in the Asia Pacific including The Australian Open, Shanghai Rolex Masters and the Rugby World Cup 2011.  In 2008, ANZ signed an agreement to sponsor the world-famous Olympic stadium in Sydney, known as the ANZ stadium.

Ottawa Senators Munch Into McDonald’s Sponsorship

The Ottawa Senators and McDonald’s today announced a new one-year sponsorship agreement.

“We are very pleased to welcome our friends at McDonald’s on as a partner,” said Cyril Leeder, Senators Sports & Entertainment president. “Not only will they have a significant presence inside of Scotiabank Place and on our Sportsnet television broadcasts, but we hope our team’s knack for scoring late goals will deliver some free Big Macs to our fans.”

The relationship features the “Big Mac Minute”, which provides fans attending Senators games at Scotiabank Place with the opportunity to redeem their ticket for a free Big Mac if the Senators score a goal in the final minute of the third period. The offer is valid the day after the home game at participating McDonald’s restaurants in the Ottawa area.

BetVictor Enters Snooker with Welsh Open Title Sponsorship

World Snooker has announced BetVictor as the new title sponsor of next week’s Welsh Open. 

The BetVictor Welsh Open will run from February 11-17 at the Newport Centre and will feature leading players including world number one Mark Selby, John Higgins, Judd Trump, defending champion Ding Junhui and Welsh wizards Mark Williams and Matthew Stevens. 

The BBC Wales-televised tournament is one of snooker’s longest standing world ranking events, ever-present on the calendar since 1992.

Canal+ Cyfrowy Get Polish Rights to Premier League

The Premier League has announced that Canal+ Cyfrowy Poland has been awarded exclusive audio-visual broadcast rights for all 380 Barclays Premier League matches a season for seasons 2013/14–2015/16 in Poland.

Emirates Secures Formula One Sponsorship Deal

Global airline, decease Emirates has announced a five-year sponsorship deal with Formula One as they ramp up their sports strategy.

The Dubai-based airline’s sponsorship deal includes 15 races this season starting in Malaysia. It will not sponsor the Australian, Monaco, Bahrain or Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, according to F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone.

“I’m obviously very proud to be associated with Emirates, the sort of brand that should be with us and us with them,” Ecclestone said at a news conference in Dubai. “We like to feel we are associated with the top corporate (brands), which we are obviously are with Emirates. The teams will benefit. It lifts everyone in Formula One.”

Emirates is continually looking to spread its reach globally and is just the latest sponsorship deal involving a major sport. It already is an official partner with FIFA and recently signed a five-year deal with the ATP which begins this year. It also comes days after new five-year shirt sponsorship deal with Paris Saint-Germain, the big-spending French soccer team that signed David Beckham.

Neptune Investment to Sponsor Two Ascot Races

Neptune Investment Management has been revealed as a new sponsor of two races at Ascot racecourse later this year.

The Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle, over a distance just short of two and a half miles, will be run on February 16 while the second race will be a £50,000 event for three-year-olds over a mile and a half on July 13.

The Ascot novice hurdle will form part of the ‘Road To Cheltenham’ series in the run-up to the Grade One Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle.
